BUMTHANG CULTURAL TOUR (7 NIGHTS/ 8 DAYS)

DETAILED ITINEARY

DAY 01: ARRIVE AT PARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, PARO-THIMPHU

On your arrival you will be received by Guide and driver from Bhutan Dendrobium Tour and Trek (BDTT). And then visit National Museum (known as Ta Dzong since it has been turned into National Museum, was the watch tower of Paro Dzong in 17th century).Paro Dzong (also known as Rinpung dzong is the venue for the annual ParoTsechu festival held every spring). Lunch in Paro town and then transfer to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. On reaching Thimphu check in hotel. Towards the evening visit Tashichodzong (the fortress of the glorious religion houses the throne room of His Majesty the King, the main secretariat building and the central monk body).Overnight at THIMPHU

DAY 02: THIMPHU- PUNAKHA

Breakfast in hotel and transfer to Punakha via Dochula pass at 3150m, one can have a magnificent view of Eastern Himalayas on the clear weather from the pass. Further down hill drive from the pass will take you to the warm and humid valley of Punakha. On the way hike to Chhimi Lhakhang,ss (the monastery of fertility). After that lunch at Punaka town, then visit Punakha dzong (majestically located at the junction of the two rivers – Pho chu and Mo chu, meaning male and female river, it was built in 1637AD, and was the capital of Bhutan since 1955 AD).Then Hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten which is perched on a hill on the opposite bank of the river. It takes 8km from Punakha town till Hiking Point).Overnight at PUNAKHA

DAY 03: WANGDI-BUMTHANG

Breakfast in hotel and visit Wangdi Phodrang dzong (built in 1638AD by the great Zhabdrung who unified the country in the 17th century), after the dzong then long drive to Bumthang, crossing Pelela pass at 3360m.Photograph break at the pass, further 1hr30min drive from the pass will take to the village of Chendebji where the lunch will be served in Tabdeyrestaurant near Chendebjistupa(the Nepal style eye stupa). Further drive from the lunch spot will reach to the town of Trongsa (the town in central Bhutan). Sightseeing of Trongsadzong (the fortress in central Bhutan from where the Wang chuck dynasty came to power in 1907). And then further proceed to Bumthang crossing another pass of Yotongla at 3400m and Kikila pass at 2700m.On reaching Bumthang check in hotel, (dinner and Overnight at JAKAR.)

DAY 04: BUMTHANG SIGHTSEEING

Breakfast in hotel and visit to Jakar dzong (this fortress was initially built as the temple in 1549 AD, it is now the administrative centre for Bumthang district),visit Wangdi chholing Palace (built in 1857 looks unlike many other palaces in Bhutan, as it was the first palace not constructed as a fortress.).Jampa lhakhang(one of the oldest temple in Bhutan, which date backs to 7th century before the arrival of Buddhism in the country). Chakar lhakhang (means the iron castle was the palace of the King from India who built Nine storied iron castle in the 8th century), Kurjey lhakhang (the temple dedicated to the great Buddhist master Guru Padmasambhava who introduced Buddhism in 8th century).Overnight at JAKAR.

DAY 05: BUMTHANG – TRONGSA

Breakfast in hotel and Transfer to Trongsa.Before you reach in Trongsa erosion towards the  Kuenga Rabten.( During the first half of the 20th century, the palace served as winter residence for the second King, Jigme Wangchuck and his senior Queen, Ashi Phuntsho Choden. Due to this heritage, the Kuenga Rabten Palace is surrounded by stone walls that have spy-holes, which were used by the royal guards). And drive back via same rout towards the Trongsa,On reaching visit Trongsa Dzong (Built in 1648, it was the seat of power over central and eastern Bhutan. Both the first and second kings of Bhutan ruled the country from this ancient seat. All four kings were invested as Trongsa Penlop (governor) prior to ascending the throne.)Lunch in town and after Lunch Visit PotalaLhakhang(consecrated in late 2005 by the Je- Khenpo.Inside is a fine 9m-tall statue of Chenresig, alongside a wrathful Guru Rinpoche) and visit TA Dzong (Watch Tower).Overnight at TRONGSA

DAY 06: TRONGSA- GANGTEY GOENPA (PHOBJIKHA)

Breakfast in hotel and transfer towards Gangtey,and visit Gangtay Gonpa. After that visit Black Necked Crane Information Center in Phobjikha valley (the wintering home for the black necked crane). And visit Norsang Carpet Factory (Established in 1992 by a local woman, it has a small hall housing eight weaving).Over Night at Gangtay

DAY 07: GANGTEY-PARO

Breakfast in hotel and transfer to Paro.On reaching visit Nishioka Chorten,(the stupa built in memory of late Dasho Nishioka, a Japanese citizen who had served in the service of agriculture for 28 years in Bhutan),on the way stop at the Bondey village for the view of Paddy field (TANADA). And then visit Dumtse lhangkhang, The monastery was built in 1421 (other sources say 1433) by an eminent Tibetan lama named Thangtong Gyalpo (1385–1464), also known as Chagzampa,Towards evening stroll in and around the town for last shopping in Bhutan. Overnight-Paro 

DAY 08: DEPARTURE

Breakfast in hotel and then drive to the airport for the flight the next destination See off by guide and driver from Bhutan Dendrobium Tour and Trek.
